I may have been a little harsh.

Unreal Tournament will run at a reasonable framerate if I turn the texture detail way down. Whether this is good is up for debate.

Also, for the moment, I am bizarrely hooked on Maple Story. It probably won’t last, but the expense is minor and I’m enjoying it.

MapleStory

See you in Kradia.

PC Gaming is D0med.

Unreal Tournament 3 is out, and it looks nice, so long as you’re looking at a screenshot. I admit my $400 video card is old tech at one year old now, but UT3 runs like a pregnant sow on my current PC. This is why, back in my review of Gears of War, I mentioned that I was about to stop considering PC gaming to be worth my time. This may be it. Team Fortress 2 and Portal almost pulled me out of that, but now I’m not sure. I’m going to test UT3 on another video card, consider some of my options, but right now it’s not looking good.

Talisman again

I finally played my new copy of Talisman. You may recall that I wrote way back here my reasoning for the purchase. So how did it hold up?

It met my expectations in every way.  That is to say, that it’s a hell of a lot of fun running around whacking monsters and getting loot, until about two hours in when you realize that you’re not much closer to winning, and that the game’s gonna take another two hours to finish up.

Still, it was a good time, and can be a lot of fun with people whose company you enjoy. Don’t play it with liquor, because it’s  so long you’ll be unconscious before you finish. When I play again, I’ll be sure to play with some of the game-speeder-upper rules.

Wü wha?

There was a great online deal for Wii component cables. Normally you can find them for $30 or so, but this place had them for $6. The Wii doesn’t really support Hi-Def, but for the price, I’d take a chance.

Today, it arrived in the mail:

Wu Label

So there you have it. I particularly like the official seal on the right. So now I’m all set to play my Wü. I’ll let you know how it works.
